LSCI Qualification

Licensed Seed Crop Inspectors submitting Reports of Seed Crop Inspection through QSI have passed the CFIA written and practical evaluations for the crop groups they are inspecting. 

Licensed Seed Crop Inspector:

• contacts the seed grower prior to field inspection;

• verifies seed tags for source seed / field identification;

• conducts pedigreed seed crop inspections;

• submits Reports of Seed Crop Inspection to the CSGA after they have been reviewed by the Lead Inspector;

• follows up, as necessary, after Reports of Seed Crop Inspection are submitted;

• conducts re-inspections, previous land use inspections and isolation distance inspections as requested.

• addresses technical questions and concerns to the lead inspector or to the QMS manager as appropriate.

• communicates directly with the CFIA or CSGA when requested

• maintains a basic knowledge of crop production practices and agronomics for the crop types which they licensed to inspect.
